Go sailing in New Zealand

At the beginning of April, I had the pleasure of travelling to New Zealand to look at expanding MySail across the pond.

I lived in New Zealand for about a year in my early twenties, and it is absolutely one of my favourite places to be. New Zealand also has a strong community of passionate sailors, which was evident through all of the people who took time to speak with me about the MySail vision and our launch to NZ when I was there last month.

My trip focused on and around Auckland, which was purely because of the limited time I had available. Like Sydney harbour, Auckland has sailing clubs dotted all around it’s immense waterways. However, the biggest marina by far (in fact, the largest marina in the Southern hemisphere) is Westhaven marina, located on the western edge of Auckland’s CBD.

Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to get out on the water in the few days I spent in New Zealand, but will definitely be back to do some sailing in the future. On my bucket list are the 119 nautical mile Coastal Classic from Auckland to Russell (Bay of Islands) in October and the Bay of Islands Sailing Week in January. Both of these events are now available in MySail so you can register your interest.

As well as helping New Zealand based yacht owners and sailors connect and manage their racing, this expansion also provides a great opportunity for Aussie sailors to join race crews in New Zealand, and will give Kiwi sailors a simple way to join Australian teams.

As we take MySail to new places, my vision is to provide a platform that brings sailors together, around the world, and helps sailors go sailing, wherever they choose to go.

I’m very excited about our expansion to New Zealand – our first official step outside of Australia – the first of many more to come.
