Australian Sailing has just announced what seems to be a controversial change to Rule 46 regarding Crew Membership.

This states: “From 1 January 2021 the Australian Sailing prescription to the rule will require that all crew are members of an affiliated club and registered with Australian Sailing- regardless of the number of races they have competed in.”

There has been a lot of backlash on their facebook page, but whether this is a knee jerk reaction or the true sentiment of the sailing community is yet to be seen. You can read more about this in the article below and I’ll run a poll next week so you can have your say.

Finally, in case you missed it, last week we shared a short (2 question) survey around media coverage of sailing’s ‘Formula 1’ type events, such as SailGP. I, for one, love seeing sailing in the limelight, but do you think this helps to increase participation, or not? Click here to have your say.

Happy sailing,
