MySail Sail Racing News - Sailing & Yachting News From Around The Web

COVID-19, now officially declared a pandemic, is wreaking havoc on people, the economy and events across the globe, including both high profile and community sailing events.

The the scheduled America’s Cup World Series event that was to take place in Sardinia in April has been postponed, and the SailGP stop in San Francisco scheduled for May has been cancelled.

Some clubs have decided to end their racing season early, or are putting in place procedures to reduce the risk by asking people to stay home if they are unwell or have recently travelled overseas, and cancelling social events.

In Australia, Sail Port Stephens and the Farr 40 Nationals are both officially cancelled, while in New Zealand the 2020 Harken Young 88 Nationals will proceed on-water only with the off-water events cancelled. There are numerous other changes and cancellations across Australia, New Zealand, the US, Canada and beyond.

It’s not all bad news, however. Despite cancellations due to Coronavirus and some wet and and windy weather forecasts, the Above & Beyond Boating Firefighters Family Day went ahead in most places on Sunday. Check out the first article below for the full story.

Until next time, stay safe and healthy!

Happy sailing,
