G’day sailors,
The plan to include a Mixed Offshore [sailing] Event at the Paris 2024 Olympics looks like it could be in jeopardy. A meeting of World Sailing’s Council held on Friday May 14 has approved Men’s and Women’s Kiteboarding as the preferred first alternative and Men’s and Women’s Two Person Dinghy (470) as the second alternative if the IOC decides not to approve the Mixed Offshore Event.
This decision comes after the IOC formally requested in April that World Sailing provide alternatives to the Mixed Offshore Event, which they are continuing to assess to ‘address challenges raised’.
