MySail Sail Racing News - Sailing & Yachting News From Around The Web

G’day sailors,

In my role as Founder of MySail, my focus is on building technology that helps connect the sailing world, and gets more people out sailing, more often.

Like many of you, I am passionate about promoting and growing the sport of sailing, and also about advancing women’s inclusion in the sport. I believe the best way to do this is by supporting each other (male and female) in a respectful and positive way. Helping others get started in sailing, develop their skills and connect into this wonderful community of people will make sure our sport continues to thrive.

However, I have been very dismayed lately to see a growing number of highly negative comments made on social media, directed towards other people, clubs and genders, in what I feel is a very aggressive and accusatory manner.

Although I would normally stay away from politically-slanted topics in these newsletters, I felt compelled to raise this one. I cannot see any benefit to the sport from spreading negative sentiments towards others. Of course there is always room for improvement, but as sailors, let’s stick together and support each other in a positive way to make this happen.

This is just my two cents; if you have anything to say on the topic, I’d love to hear it. Feel free to send your thoughts to hello@mysail.team and I may include these (anonymously) in a future newsletter.

iQFoil International Games, Marathon on Lake Garda

The weather is the main character on every regatta, and today the wind shuffled the plan and instead of going for a morning Marathon, the long regatta was raced in the afternoon with a nice South breeze building up to 15-16 knots for the fun of the 107 sailors patiently waiting on the Univela Sailing lawn.

Disposing of Unwanted Distress Beacons

Please do not throw your beacon in the bin. Beacons can inadvertently activate if they are not correctly disposed, which often occurs when beacons are thrown in the rubbish and end up in tips.
