Who managed to watch SailGP over the weekend?

I did! Well, kind of. Being the unprepared kind of person I sometimes am, I went down to TRY and watch SailGP from the shore, but due to a series of unforeseen events and a big cruise ship that decided to moor in between me and the action, it wasn’t the best view in town. Luckily SailGP has garnered some more media coverage than the average sailing event, so for those who missed the live action (like me) you should be able to catch up on your own time.

One thing that is coming up soon that I’m very excited to be a part of is the Above & Beyond Boating Firefighters Family Day on the Water. This initiative was the brain child of Neil from Above & Beyond Boating who, during the height of the terrible Australian fires late 2019, thought, wouldn’t it be great to give these hard working volunteers something to look forward to?

Step forward a couple of months, and with tons of support from clubs, boat owners and other organisations, and this is now a reality. I’m helping to organise one of these events on Sunday 15 March at Middle Harbour Yacht Club in Sydney, and there are heaps of other events happening around Australia.

Lastly, if you’re in Sydney this weekend and not sailing in the Sydney Harbour Regatta, you should be! At the very least, head on down to the club for a social drink and say hello (I’ll be racing on a yacht called Tempo).

Happy sailing,
Deb (MySail Founder)
