2022 Bay of Islands Sailing Week

The Notice of Race has been published and entries are now open for the CRC Bay of Islands Sailing Week 2022.

Changes to race entries

If you’re planning to enter Island Racing and sail one longer bay race each day, there’s a slight change to the entry form for you this year. Due to the popularity of Island Racing, the organisers often need to create new divisions to accommodate the number of entries, meaning boats don’t always end up in the division they’ve entered.

To help manage this, simply pick Island Racing on the entry form and the handicapper will allocate your division on handicap, based on the total number of boats entered.

The only exceptions are Island Racing Non Spinnaker, or Island Racing Multihull, where you’ll still be able to pick your division when entering.

Marina berth bookings

This year the marina is struggling to book boats far ahead due to an abundance of cruising boats stuck in NZ with COVID travel restrictions.

The race organisers are hopeful that things will ease up closer to the event and are working with their sponsor Bay of Islands Marina to ensure they can fit everyone in. They also put on a free Water Taxi if boats end up on the Q Dock, moorings or at anchor.
