Sailors With disABILITIES (SWD) are looking for crew interested to join their program for the 75th Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race. Join them onboard their 54ft yacht ‘Kayle’ to compete in this iconic event and support a great cause.
The Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race has grown over the decades to become one of the top offshore yacht races in the world, as well as an icon in Australian summer sporting events for the general public. Thousands line the Sydney Harbour foreshores or take to the water in spectator vessels to watch the start at 1 pm on Boxing Day
The 2019 race will be an historic 75th start. CYCA Commodore, Paul Billingham says: “The 2019 Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race, the 75thrace to Hobart, is going to be one of the most memorable in the history of our great race. As of mid-July, we are ecstatic to have 100 entrants at such an early stage and are thrilled to have such a strong fleet from across the country and around the world.”
“When the start cannon is fired on 26 December at 1300hrs local time, one of the largest and most competitive fleets from around the globe will be on show. Each will take home a piece of history, having taken part in the 75th Sydney Hobart.”

For those looking to participate in this iconic yacht race, Australian registered not-for-profit SWD are offer 12 berths for sale on their yacht Kayle.
Participating in the Sydney Hobart Yacht Race is no easy feat from a logistical, financial and risk management stand point. As a result, SWD are looking to use the race as a way to raise funds to cover the race costs, boat expenses, and to raise their profile in the community.
Kayle is a 54ft Lyons grand prix offshore racing yacht. She was designed and built in 2000 to be an ocean racer and currently holds the record for the fastest circumnavigation of Australia. Kayle has competed in some 15 Sydney to Hobart races, with divisional wins and places. The boat meets all the safety standards for Category 1 ocean racing.
For those looking to build their offshore miles or an offshore adventure without the race aspect, there is also an opportunity to join Kayle for the delivery back to Sydney.
